Leisure Education: A Post-Totalitarian Concept?
Original language description
The chapter presents an overview of the historical roots of leisure education institutions and the theory of leisure education in the Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia (1920-30s nationalism, 1930s-1980s fascist and communist totalitarianism). Furthermore, ways of reflecting leisure education and dealing with its post-totalitarian heritage after 1989 (incl. recent development and trends in leisure education at Czech universities) are examined together with an attempt to identify links between theeastern tradition of leisure education and the western tradition of leisure studies.
