Original language description
Medieval scholastics routinely contrasted real beings (entia realia, entia naturae), which actually or possibly exist independently of our minds, with beings of reason (entia rationis), for which it is impossible. Suárez devoted to the latter the last of his Disputationes metaphysicae. In this chapter I deal with Suárez’s theory general theory of beings of reason, i.e. with their nature, “existence”, causes, and division.
