With 260 students of the 5th and 7th grades of the public elementary schools (average age 12.2) a slightly modified Schmalt´s LMG (Schmalt, 1976 so called grid test of the achievement motive) was administred to the students. Value Preference Inventory (Hošek, 1992) and Rheinberg´s FEBO (Questionnaire for Determining Reference Norm Orientation) followed. The students of teachers focussed more on individual reference norm (i BNO) possess significantly lower Fear of Failure (FF) in motor activites. The students with relatively lower predisposition for motor activities are distinguished by an aversion to applications of achievement (social reference norm, s BNO) norms in rating of P.E. and they prefer more noncompetitive activities. The results corroboratethe hypothesis on the need to differentiate the contents of P.E. with respect of motor pre-requisites of students.
