In today's rapid and turbulent environment, it is necessary to adapt quickly to changes for the enterprises. And even they should be able to anticipate these changes. All these pressures in the discontinuous environment might cause a pressure not only on organization but on its employees. It can negatively influence their performance. Only motivated and satisfied employees can be key success factor of competitiveness, therefore it is appropriate to actively engage in this issue for companies. This paper deals with work-related stress and its possible impact on employees work performance in selected organizations. The aim was to determine current state stress in the workplace and subsequently to suggest a proposal for improving and change the status quo. It was used questionnaires. Respondents were employees of retail units whose are daily in contact with customers. The questionnaire was focused on evaluating of stress factors in the workplace, as well as on the possible effect of work stress on their job performance, especially on relations to customers and on their willingness to undergo training or seminar on stress management, marginally on pathological conditions in the workplace, for example: mobbing, bossing and sexual harassment. Overall 200 respondents participated in the survey; the largest group of them were women (81%) aged between 18-35 years (66%). The survey clearly shows that almost two thirds (63%) of employees see a link between work-related stress and its negative impact on customer service, and in fact, this situation actually experienced. 68% of respondents agree with the statement that as a result of stress or fatigue commit mistakes job. Only 36% of respondents believe that their employer is engaged in prevention stress in the workplace. In conclusion it can be said that work stress affects the all activities at all levels of organization.
