Automatic water flow extimation in fish tanks
Original language description
The measurement of the parameters of unknown process is very complicated task. The measurement issue is the influence of the unknown / uncontrolled process variables to the measurement. One example of the process is water flow measurement in the fish tank with non-homogenous velocity distribution in the tank. We present the system of camera based water flow estimation for complete volume of fish tanks. The flow measurement is one of the critical points in the newly emerging topic of fish exercising. New approach in the field of intensive aquaculture related to the optimization of fish grow in tanks is based on the creation of the non-homogenous flow areas in the tank (Davison et al., 2013, Palstra et al., 2015). These non-homogenous areas provide the opportunity for the fish to make individual swimming preferences. Therefore there is a need to measure and simulate flow conditions under different tank design. Another aspect of the flow measurement is the relevance to the distribution of the fish feed (pellets) in the tank and optimization of pellets distribution.
