OBJECTIVES: The study aimed at assessing the effects of a pyrethroid cypermethrin on common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) on the basis of the results of acute toxicity tests and haematological, biochemical and histological examinations. METHODS: Experimentalcarp were exposed to the pesticide preparation Alimetrin 10 EM in the concentration of 29.1 ?g.l-1 (96hLC50) corresponding to 2.91 ?g.l - 1 of cypermethrin in a 96 h acute toxicity test. The results of the test and of the examinations of exposed carp were compared with the results of carp from the control group. RESULTS: In haematological profile, the experimental group of carp showed a significant (P < 0.01) increase in the number of erythrocytes, segmented neutrophile granulocytes, developmental forms of myeloid sequence and eosinophiles, and a significant (P < 0.01) decrease in mean erythrocyte volume, mean erythrocyte haemoglobin and lymphocyte count. Czech description

Cílem práce bylo zhodnotit účinek cypermethrinu na kapra obecného (Cyprinus carpio L.) na základě výsledků testů akutní toxicity, hematologického, biochemického a histologického vyšetření tkání. Experimentální kapři byli vystaveni 96 h působení pesticidního přípravku Alimethrinu 10 EM v koncentraci 29,1 ?g/l (96hLC50), která koresponduje s 2,91 ?g/l cypermethrinu. Výsledky z testu experimentální skupiny kaprů byly porovnány s kontrolní skupinou. V hematologickém profilu, experimentální skupiny kaprů došlo k signifikantnímu (P < 0.01) zvýšení počtu červených krvinek, neutrofilních granulocytů, vývojových forem myeloidní sekvence a eozinofilů, a signifikantnímu (P < 0.01) snížení středního objemu erytrocytu, hemoglobin erytrocytu a počtu lymfocytů. V biochemickém profilu, experimentální skupiny kaprů došlo k signifikantnímu (P < 0.01) zvýšení glukozy, laktátu, kreatinkinázy a snížení (P<0.01) celkových bílkovin, albuminů, globulinů, amoniaku, laktát dehydrogenázy a alkalické fosfat
