Distribution, occurrence and potential use of entomopathogenic fungi in arable soils in Czech Republic.
Original language description
Total of 146 soil samples collected from fields on conventional and organic farms throughout South Bohemia region was assessed for occurrence of entomopathogenic fungi. Metarhizium anisopliae with 80 strains was the most frequently detected species followed with Beauveria bassiana (25 strains), Paecilomyces lilacinus (20 strains), P. fumosoroseus (16 strains), P. carneus (9 strains) and Paecilomyces spp. (11 strains). M. anisopliae and P. fumosoroseus were the only species that were regularly isolated with both, insect baits (Galleria mellonella larvae) and dodine selective media. By contrast, P. lilacinus and P. carneus were the only species that were detected with dodine selective media only. There were not significant differences detected when spectrum and frequency of entomopathogenic fungi in soils from arable fields on conventional and organic farms were compared.
