Entomogenous fungi associated with spruce bark beetle Ips typographus L. (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) in the Bohemian Forest.
Original language description
The incidence of entomogenous fungi directly associated with adults of the spruce bark beetle and with soils closely related to sites with presence of Ips typographus has been monitored within a period 1999-2000. Nine species of entomogenous fungi were discovered and 69 strains have been purified and deposited into the Collection of Entomogenous Fungi. Verticillium lecanii was the most frequent species associated with adults caught with pheromone traps, while Beauveria bassiana, Paecilomyces farinosus and P. fumosoroseus were among the most frequently collected fungi from spruce bark beetle adults in bark. Seven species of fungi were collected from soil samples after baited with great wax moth larvae with dominating status of P. fumosoroseus. Two species, Paecilomyces penicillatus and Tolypocladium nubicola were first time recorded from central Europe. Beauveria bassiana and P. fumosoroseus were the only species that have been detected in all systems, witch were monitored.
