When sampled, sperm of tench is more or less contaminated with urine what causes worsened spermatozoa motility and thus results in worsened fertilization rate. This phenomenon was described by Linhart et al. (1992, 2002). In order to maintain motility and fertilization capacity of spermatozoa, a technique was elaborated to collect sperm into immobilizing solution (Linhart et al., 1992). Based upon previous unpublished experiments, KUROKURA solution (Kurokura et al.,1984) and its modifications were tested in this study as immobilizing solutions for sampling and preservation of tench spermatozoa. Sperm was a pool obtained of 7 mature males of 800 g mean body weight, 24 h after hormonal stimulation with intramuscularly administered carp pituitary in doseof 2 mg per 1 kg body weight. Sperm was sampled by means of a syringe directly into immobilizing solution (IS), maintaining the ratio of IS : sperm as 2 : 1.
