The design of silk fiber composition in moths has been conserved for more than 150 million years

  • Original language description

The silk of Yponomeuta evonymella contains heavy-chain fibroin, light-chain fibroin, and P25 protein that are known from the evolutionary advanced Lepidoptera. Silk filament construction from these three proteins apparently complies ideally with the needof rapid evolutionary changes in the silk properties and amino acid composition while the capacity to form a fibre is permanently retained.

Obecný plán stavby hedvábí se uchoval více než 150 milionů let
