Synonymical and geographic distribution notes for Apogonia niponica Lewis, 1895 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae)

Original language description

Based on the examination of the type series of both Apogonia niponica Lewis, 1895 and Apogonia chinensis Moser, 1918, the type locality of the former species is clarified and its geographic distribution is extended by proposing A. chinensis a junior subjective synonym of A. niponica. All previous records of A. niponica from Taiwan should refer to A. rufobrunnea Moser, 1915.
