The Asian tapeworm, Bothriocephalus acheilognathi Yamaguti, 1934 (Cestoda: Bothriocephalidea), is the most important pathogenic cestode of cyprinid fish, which causes bothriocephalosis and one of the most dangerous helminth parasites of cultured carp (Bauer et al., 1977; Nie and Hoole, 2000).
