Modeling thermal diffusion flames with fractal dimensions
Original language description
In this study, we have discussed the implications of fractal dimensions in flame diffusion theory based on the notion of non-integer dimensional space for complex fractal media. We have selected the problem of round laminar diffusion flames and we have modeled it in fractal dimension. We have considered the particular case of spatially-varying densities and viscosities which arise in various combustion processes and turbulent jet flames used in power generation and manufacturing. It was observed that the length of the flame is affected not only by the unit velocity but also by the numerical value of the fractal dimension. A lower fractal dimension (with respect to unity) results in an increase of the flame length scale and hence in the turbulent flame speed and turbulence intensity.
