Quaternary heteroarenium salts as the competitive inhibitors of the brain acetylcholinesterase
Original language description
The interaction of seventeen heteroarenium salts with the enzyme acetylcholinesterase was investigated using in vitro experiments. Rat brains were used as a source of the enzyme. All compounds involved in this study were found to be competitive acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. 10-methyl-acridinium iodide seems to be the most potent acetylcholinesterase inhibitor.
