Original language description
The contribution focuses on the application of multivariate classification techniques for assessing the regional competitiveness of selected Ukrainian regions. In accordance with the character of data used, the authors perform factor analysis and clusteranalysis to make the classification. As an input for the practical analysis data sets, such variables are selected which describe regional competitiveness defined as the ability to produce goods, provide services and pass the test of international markets while maintaining high and sustainable levels of income or, more generally, the ability of regions to achieve relatively high income and employment levels (see e.g. [1]) while facing external competition. Four indicators of regional competitiveness are created using the factor analysis results.
