Learning sources and the distance course content are key aspects of distance education at the Language Training Centre, the University of Defence. The main emphasis is placed on developing materials that foster learner engagement with the content. According to the needs analysis, which was carried out in 2010, the authors found out that in the centre of students attention is military terminology, accompanied with an easy access to interactive materials. This information led the authors to design a new course of military terminology with the assistance of master programme students. The authors provide a theoretical framework to the process of a course development; describe the process of the military terminology course development and students? opinionson this course.
