The article addresses the issue of the impact of military spending on macroeconomic developments. According to the macroeconomic theory, military expenditures represent one part of government spending. Presentation of the problem requires clarification of fundamental causal link. Emphasis is put general approach to regression analysis of time series of military expenditures. An example is Estonia Based on the data characterizing economic growth and defense spending as a share of GDP, a correlation analysis can be used in a period of time. The observed regression function is indicative of the relationship between these variables. For example, if the regressions function is: y = - 0,4820 x + 5,30, and variable (x) represents partial share of military expenditure on GDP, it wil depict inverse dependency between economic growth (y) and shere of military spendings on GDP.
