The article presents the partial conclusions of the research “Solving Unstructured Decision-Making Problems in the Department of Defence of the Czech Republic.” Research was conducted in the department of defence of Czech Republic in the form of a questionnaire survey and half structured interviews. The employees of the department working at all managerial levels have been the research respondents. The research subject was the problematics of effective problem solving in the department of defence. The aim of this article is to identify the key barriers of effective decision making and to propose common principles to eliminate these barriers.
