Following article deals with the service appraisal of soldiers in the Czech Republic. The first part is focused on the general explanation of the basic terms such as career and career management. Another part of the article is situated into the environment of the Army of the Czech Republic, the issue of career management of soldiers of the Army of the Czech Republic and the importance of the service appraisal in this process is explained. The aim of this article is to clarify the current shape of career management in the Army of the Czech Republic and the importance of the service appraisal in this process. There are some suggestions and possibilities of other development of this issue deduced in the conclusion.
