Original language description
Teamwork has become one of the key components of effective and successful organization. Functions, structure and behavior within working teams are already common components of organizations, companies and also army structures. Virtual teams are new and rapidly developing phenomena. Their quantity and efficiency increase, mainly depending on the required amount of information which is needed in the decision making process and in compliance with the developing technologies. With gradual introduction new information technologies, the communication of expert (virtual) teams with units in operations out of the territories of sending nations becomes easier and faster than ever before. Army virtual teams may in practical and theoretical terms be employed not only on national, but also multinational levels. Commanders and staffs being assigned to command the operations out of the territories of their countries have not always all the expertise, information and capabilities necessary for solving particular problems at command posts. With regard to the above mentioned, the individual chapters are focused on the study of basic characteristics of virtual teams and their differences with traditional working teams. The authors also analyze issues related to the control of virtual teams, key factors for building, refining, functioning and terminating such virtual teams for military operations and the role of commander (manager) in the control process. Primary attention is paid to the functioning of virtual teams in the second part of the paper. The authors analyze key factors contributing to the efficient activity of virtual teams and the ways of conflict resolution.
