A Comparison of Cargo Securing on Laden/Unladen Container Trucks
Original language description
The article deals with the effect of cargo on the magnitude of shocks generated in the Tatra 815 MK IV container carrier with respect to cargo securing. Due to the frequent use of only a part of the capacity of the ISO 1C container, a different effect on the magnitude of the shocks generated, and hence on the choice of a cargo securing system, is assumed. Two data sets have been obtained from a transport experiment with an empty vehicle and a 50% laden vehicle and compared using statistical tests of equality. A statistically significant difference between the magnitude of shocks generated by an empty vehicle and a laden vehicle was proved. The vehicle laden at 50% of its capacity generated, on average, smaller shocks than the unladen vehicle. The results are at borderline levels, showing a negligible effect of cargo on the magnitude of shocks generated in vehicles laden at less than 50% of their capacity. Furthermore, a strong correlation was found between the measured values of the acceleration coefficients and the respective inertial forces, which makes it possible to simplify the calculation and thus facilitate the choice of a suitable cargo securing system.
