This paper describes the possibilities of extending the stable operation region of the centrifugal air compressor with fixed geometry. The main attention is given to the air flow entering the impeller. For various compressor operation regions velocitiesand incidence angles at the impeller inlet were calculated. Contemporary methods used for extending the centrifugal compressor stable operation region by modifying its intake system are presented.
