The paper deals with the determination of optimal vehicle durability time depending on life cycle costs and failure intensity. This method adopts two separate approaches. The first approach is based on the life cycle costs calculation, and the second onthe determination of failure intensity relation. As an example of vehicle durability time assessment, the monitoring and calculation of the fixed indicators of the Land Rover Defender is used. In the course of twelve years 55 Land Rover vehicles were monitored. These vehicles drove almost eight million kilometres.

Článek se zabývá stanovením optimální doby životnosti vozidla v závislosti na nákladech životního cyklu a parametru proudu poruch. Tato metoda vychází ze dvou samostatných přístupů. První je založen na výpočtu nákladů životního cyklu vozidla a druhý vychází ze stanovení závislosti parametru proudu poruch. Pro stanovení doby životnosti vozidla je použit příklad sledování a výpočtu stanovených ukazatelů vozidlo Land Rover Defender. Během této doby bylo sledováno 55 ks těchto vozidel. Tato vozidla najela necelých 8 miliónů kilometrů
