    This paper deals with the determination of howitzers ramming device capability loaded by separated ammunition. The requirements of the STANAG 4517 regarding ramming devices are updated by the capability index. They have included the capability index intothe evaluation of the ordnance ramming process. Introduction of this index and the minimal level determination at CRD = 1.6 guarantees a high level security in practice. It is possible to use that in course of quality assessments after technical inspections and repairs. The introductory experiment is a frame of an experimental measurement device which might be put into service in The Czech Army in future.
