    The paper deals with the model for determination of optimal vehicle durability time depending on life cycle costs and failure intensity. This method adopts two separate approaches. The first approach is based on the life cycle costs calculation, and thesecond on the determination of failure intensity relation. The whole life cycle of vehicles is divided into particular stages that are characterized by the type and the amount of expended costs. The paper presents a general model of life cycle cost of vehicles.
