Controller Area Network based On-board Data Acquisition System on Military Aircraft
Original language description
The paper is aimed at the design of data acquisition system architecture based on Controller Area Network (CAN) and its optimization for use on a military aircraft. System is proposed as a modular structure, primarily intended for data acquisition from particular subsystems and their handling. Gathered data will be also provided through a gateway to the integrated NEC (Network Enabled Capability) environment. An originally automotive bus CAN enhanced by the CANaerospace, a protocol specially developed for use in aviation, have been employed as a means of communication. The use of the conventional communication bus on military aircraft requires specific solution in many aspects. The paper shows some problems arisen from the CAN implementation and dealswith a brand new method of the network communication management. Proposed technique was experimentally verified and results are included in the paper.
