The paper shows results of an experiment that was performed on propellants consisting of nitrocellulose, nitroglycerine and dinitrotoluene and its alternative with relatively less toxic plasticizer then dinitrotoluene. Grains of propellants were artificially aged at 65°C for a period corresponding to 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of storage at 25°C. Dynamic mechanical analysis and uniaxial compression and tensile test at -40°C and 21°C were performed on specimens after ageing. The results do not fully match our presumption of gradual lowering of the ultimate strength of the material in time, but form wide set of data describing a change of the mechanical properties of double-base propellants over ageing.
