Effectiveness of Passive Optoelectronic and Laser Rangefinders
Original language description
Active rangefinders for measurement of longer distances of targets, e. g. pulsed laser rangefinders (LRF), emit radiant energy. In security and military applications there is a serious defect that the target can detect its irradiation. The use of the passive optoelectronic rangefinders (POERF) eliminates mentioned defects in full. The POERF measurement principle is based on the evaluation of information from stereo-pair images obtained by the pair of cameras. The POERF continues to measure the UTM coordinates of a moving target with rate c. 10 - 30 measurements per second and extrapolates its trajectory (corresponding time, coordinates and its velocity vector nu(T)). All required information is sent to clients via the Internet/Intranet in near-real-time. The core of this contribution consists in the comparison of LRF and POERF in cases that a component part of the fire control system is LRF and POERF, respectively.
