Assessment optimization of weather forecast - Terminal aerodrome forecast (TAF) - for 24 hours
Original language description
The aim of the paper is the evaluation of success of Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF report) affecting both efficiency and safety of air traffic as well as attempt at optimization of the assessment. It extensively inspects WMO/ICAO rules for evaluatingin both military and civilian precepts. The gained methodical techniques are applied to a set of data and statistical assessment of TAF reports of some Czech airports is also included. The strict application of internationally approved criteria for assessment of TAFs revealed that the greatest differences between forecast and actual values occurred at those weather elements and phenomena, which the set criteria were proved to be very hard in reference to their considerable natural variability in time.
