The analysis of 7.62 mm × 39 ammunition ballistic pressure measurement results by a pressure gauge and a piezoelectric transducer
Original language description
Gun chamber pressure is one of the most important parameters when evaluating the properties of weapons and ammunition. The pressure can be measured by pressure gauge or a piezoelectric pressure transducer. Each method is based on a different principle of pressure measuring, and for this reason, the obtained values of maximum pressure differ between individual methods. Due to that, it is necessary to know the functional dependence between these pressure measuring methods. This paper is focused on the analysis of experimentally obtained 7.62 mm × 39 ammunition ballistic pressure measurement results. Two different types of sensors are used; a pressure gauge and a piezoelectric pressure transducer. The experimentally obtained results are then the basis for the statistical analysis of the difference between the maximum pressures obtained by each method. The factors that could affect the magnitude of the difference between the maximum pressures obtained from the individual measurement methods are estimated based on the analysis of the provided results. The dependence of the methods is expressed as a linear function subsequently.
