Integrating Mechatronics Principles in Modern Air Defence Systems

  • Original language description

Mechatronics, as an interdisciplinary scientific branch, offers innovative solutions to the complex challenges faced by air defence systems. This article explores the key mechatronics principles applied in the development and optimisation of air defence technologies, including sensor integration, real-time data processing, automated targeting, and intelligent control systems. By leveraging these principles, modern air defence systems achieve superior accuracy in threat detection, tracking, and interception, thereby improving overall defensive capabilities. The synergy between mechatronics and air defence not only enhances operational effectiveness but also reduces response times and increases technical reliability. This comprehensive paper underscores the transformative impact of mechatronics on air defence, highlighting case studies and real-world applications that demonstrate its critical role in ensuring national security in an era of rapidly evolving aerial threats. The paper provides a general overview of SBAD and mechatronics applications and focuses in more detail on the example of missile guidance using the Track via Missile principle and proportional guidance method.
