Iron is common wear metals typical sources from cylinder liners, valve guides, rocker arms, bearings, crankshaft, camshaft, wrist pins, housing of engine. By analysing the concentration of iron wear and comparing it to previous results and alarm allowable limits, mechanics can identify potential problems at an early stage. Using method AES (atomic emission spectroscopy) to determinate the concentration of iron metal particles in parts per million (ppm), 179 oil samples according to the engine operating hours (Mh) and taken from 20 combat vehicles. Comparing a simple linear regression model between frequentist approach and Baysian inference combined with method Markov Chain Monte Carlo for the simple linear model. We estimate that the iron content would reach the warning threshold of 50 ppm when the engine travelled from 380 to 600 Mh. From there, we recommend that the engine oil change interval can be extended rather than fixed every interval 200 Mh oil change. Thus, saving costs while still ensuring that the engine works well.
