Review of the Main Military Kinetic Threats Having an Impact on Constructions of Military Infrastructure

  • Original language description

Military infrastructure represents a key segment of critical infrastructure in the context of military operations, crisis situations and peacetime. Its protection proves to be essential, as any failure can have far-reaching strategic and economic consequences. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the kinetic threats that pose a risk to military infrastructure constructions. Exposure of structures to dynamic loads due to explosions, impacts from projectiles and explosive ordnance, or vehicle impacts are among the main kinetic threats of military nature. The paper goes on to discuss the impact of these threats on military infrastructure constructions and categorises each threat according to its level of impact into five levels. It concludes by discussing the importance of resilience of constructions and emphasizes the need to increase the level of resilience through both permanent and temporary protective measures.
