Enhancing Range Resolution of Unmodulated Pulse Radar Using Spectral Inverse Filter
Original language description
Spectral inverse filtering offers a robust solution to the range resolution limitations of traditional unmodulated pulse radar systems, which depend heavily on pulse width and bandwidth. By processing signals in the frequency domain, this technique enhances the ability to resolve closely spaced targets without requiring significant hardware modifications. Simulations demonstrate that spectral inverse filtering, when applied to a 1 microsecond pulse width, enhances range resolution beyond conventional limits, achieving 30 m at 10 MHz, 15 ∼m at 20 MHz, and 7.5 m at 40 MHz. This method proves especially effective for modernizing legacy radar systems, enabling precise target detection in missile defense and air surveillance applications. Despite challenges such as hardware complexity and environmental noise, spectral inverse filtering remains a cost-effective, scalable solution for addressing the growing demands of high-resolution radar systems.
