Modular Cybersecurity Scenario Development and Its Integration into the Cyber Range Platform
Original language description
This paper presents a modular approach to the development and deployment of cybersecurity training scenarios using the Ansible automation framework and their integration into the BUTCA Cyber Range platform. While Ansible streamlines the provisioning of vulnerable systems and ensures repeatability, the BUTCA platform offers a fullfeatured orchestration environment for sandboxed scenario execution and student assessment. The proposed solution includes an automated deployment of a vulnerable Joomlabased web server, structured attack tasks, and metrics collection. The scenario was tested across multiple student cohorts at the University of Defence, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining infrastructure automation with interactive cyber range platforms to enhance cybersecurity education.
