Pharmacological prophylaxis against nerve agent poisoning: experimental studies and practical implications
Original language description
Pharmacological prophylaxis against nerve agentss and organophosphates is described. Approaches can be different: it is protection of acetylcholinesterase against inhibition when reversíble cholinesterase inhibitors are used (pyridostigmine). Its higherdose has side effect that can be eliminated by administration of anticholinergics (prophylactic antidote PANPAL). The treatment in advance comprises administration of reactivator HI-6 (TRANSANT). Administration of scavengers (cholinesterases, Protexia) decreases the level of toxic agent. The use of other drugs (huperzin A) is another possibility.
