    Creep properties of selected cast superalloys for glass industry

  • Original language description

    Creep testing of cast nickel-base (NiCrW) and cobalt-base (CoNb and CoTa) superalloys hardened by complex carbides has been carried out to compare their creep behaviour and properties. All superalloys can be used for an investment casting of the spinner discs. It was found that both cobalt-base superalloys exhibit significantly better creep resistance than the nickel-base NiCrW one over the entire loading conditions used. Under the same loading conditions the creep life of the CoNb superalloy is the longest, however, its fracture ductility shows the opposite order of the creep life due to a premature intergranular fracture resulting from critical accumulation of creep damage. Generally, the resulted fracture ductility is controlled by creep fracture mode. The nickel-base NiCrW superalloy possesses the shortest creep life and the highest fracture ductility.
