The Czech high schools have not been able to prepare graduates for a practical life yet. One problem of the Czech educational system is that swotting is of the high priority in the learning process. The second problem appears at the end of elementary school where pupils are divided into those with ambitions to graduate somewhere at the high school, and those who are not able to manage it. The scientific contribution of the article is the analysis of the main problems of the contemporary Czech high schools and finding the way how to solve them.
