The Analysis of the Ownership Structure of Sugar Making Companies in the Czech Republic Evidence of Czech-German Relations
Original language description
There are seven sugar beet processing plants operating in the Czech Republic. This paper aims to describe the ownership structure of these plants and to reveal possible relations to sugar beet companies of German origin. The connection of four Czech plants to two major German companies Nordzucker, AG and Sudzucker AG has been identified. The production capacities were compared and then they were measured against the financial performance of the individual companies within the analysis of the Czech sugar plants and the German sugar plants having an ownership interest in them. In terms of assessing the financial situation, financial performance, and selected profitability ratios, it is clear that the best results are achieved by Tereos TTD, which is also the largest employer of the compared plants.
