Diptera of the Bílina and Duchcov Environs. In: Barták, M., Vaňhara, J., (eds.) Diptera in an Industially Affected Region (North Bohemia, Bílina and Duchcov Environs) I

  • Original language description

Altogether 2,891 species of Diptera were found in the years 1992-1999 in the study area, representing roughly 38 % of all Diptera species known currently from the Czech Republic (CHVÁLA 1997). The actual number of species inhabiting environs of Bílina and Duchcov is, of course, much higher. Extensive materials of several Diptera families have not been identified at all (e.g. Ceratopogonidae, Chamaemyiidae, Simuliidae, Chironomidae) or specialists succeeded to identify only a small part of the materialsprior to the deadline of this book (e.g., extensive materials of Cecidomyiidae caught in Malaise traps, rich materials of the phorid genus Megaselia). To the detriment of this survey, we did not employ specialised collecting methods which could have produced additional species of certain families (e.g., rearing phytophages from host plants, using special traps for haematophages, etc.). The objective of our study was to analyse the biodiversity in modified habitats (Radovesická and Pokrok
