Mythicomyiidae, In: Barták, M., Vaňhara, J., (eds.) Diptera in an Industially Affected Region (North Bohemia, Bílina and Duchcov Environs) I
Original language description
A female specimen was caught in a Malaise trap set-up in a mixed woods from June 25 to July 23, 1998, at an elevation of 420 m a.s.l. Glabellula arctica was caught for the first time in the the Czech Republic in 1994 in the Mohelno serpentine steppe (ROZKOŠNÝ & VAŇHARA 1997). Until now five specimens were reported from this country (1>, 4++) from five localities (3 in Bohemia, 2 in Moravia). The development of this little fly is dependent on the ants of the genus Formica (ANDERSSON 1974). All species ofFormica in the Czech Republic are protected by law No. 114/1992, about nature and landscape preservation (categories to procedural decree No. 395/1992 - endangered species). Considering the close relation to this specifically protected species and its relative rareness, we may consider this Dipteran species in our territory as potentially endangered.
