  • Original language description

The single Czech representative of the family Mythicomyiidae was found in Podyjí NP. Altogether nine male and 22 female specimens collected in five localities represent by far the richest findings of this rare species in the Czech Republic (for previousrecords see BOSÁK & BARTÁK 2000); only two Moravian localities were known previously. Most specimens (26) were taken in Havraníky forest-steppe. The development of this little fly is dependent on ants of the genus Formica (see ANDERSSON 1974). All species of the genus Formica in the Czech Republic are protected by law No. 114/1992, about nature and landscape preservation (categories to procedural decree No. 395/1992 ? endangered species). Considering the close relation to specifically protected speciesand its relative rareness, we may consider this species on our territory as potentially endangered (BOSÁK 2005).
