Original language description
Altogether six species of Therevidae were found in the study area, representing 23.1 % of the total Czech fauna. All therevids found represent the most common species of the family distributed nearly throughout all of the Czech Republic. On the whole, the species composition indicates a very valuable edaphic complex, because their larvae are predators of soil invertebrates. Pandivirilia caesia is a very interesting faunistic record of a rare temperate European species, probably associated with open mixed forests (e.g., Šumava Mts, unpubl. record, SPITZER leg.). Ecology and distribution of P. caesia is little known (LYNEBORG 1986).
