Comparison of calve pre- and postweaning traits of 8 beef cattle breeds in the Czech Republic

Original language description

In the years 1992-1998 eight beef cattle breeds (Angus, Blonde d´ Aquitaine, Charolais, Czech Pied, Hereford, Limousin, Piemontese and Simmental) were tested and the birth weight, 210-day and 365 day weight, as well as the appropriate average daily gainswere analysed by means of the least squares method. The comparison of breeds and traits was based on the overall means (m) and phenotypic standard deviations (sP). Genetic standard deviations were used to compare the genetic variability of breeds.
