In the years 1992-1998 six beef cattle breeds (Angus, Czech Pied, Hereford, Charolais, Limousin and Piemontese) were tested and the birth weight, 120-day and 210- day weight, as well as the appropriate average daily gains were analysed by means of the least squares method. The comparison of breeds and traits was based on the overall means (m) and phenotypic standard deviations (sP). Genetic standard deviations were used to compare the genetic variability of breeds.
