Original language description

Out of 21 species of the family Carnidae known from the Czech Republic, only 8 species (i.e. 38%) of the genus Meoneura were found in the study area. However, two of them were recorded for the first time on the territory of Bohemia (M. freta and M. triangularis). M. triangularis was published from a few localities in the Czech Republic including those from the study area (ROHÁČEK 1996). M. freta is only known from locality No. 13 (gravel-pit nr. Braňany, 12.-18.v.1996, 4 males, pan traps) in Bohemia. The latter species seems to prefer warm steppe and forest steppe biocoenoses; in the Czech Republic it has been known from southern and central Moravia until now (cf. GREGOR & PAPP 1981; ROHÁČEK 1999).
