Original language description
The influence of different number of cuts at diferent dates on the development and reproductive ability of Lactuca serriola L. was in field experiments in the years 1999-2000 investigated. The plants, that were cut 2 times when the stems were 20-30 cm long, developed 50 cm long stems and 305 calathidums till the end of the vegetation. The plants cut once in the beginning of the generative stage developed 61 cm long stems and 376 calathidums. The stems of the plants that were not cut were 179 cm long andthey had 1057 calathidums. There were on average 15 ripe achenes in one calathidum. When the plants were cut in the stage of yellow achenes, they created 20 cm long stems and did not create achenes.
