The population of heavy horses in the Czech Pepublic is devided into three breeds - Czechmoravian Belgic, Noric and Silasian Noric. Czechmoravian Belgic and Silasian Noric are included in the genetic resource of the Czech Republic. The development of four main body measurements (height at withers -measured with stick and tape, chest circumference, cannon circumference) of heavy stallions in the Czech Republic during the 20th century was evaluated. Also the comparison of body measurements between Belgicand Noric stallions was done. Source data were raised from chanceries of the State stud farms in Pisek and Tlumacov and from the Central register for horse breeding in Slatiňany. Since the 19th century the main body measurements of heavy stallions went through many changes. However, there is no evident trend in their development.
