Summary: Comparison of 17 morphometric characters was made to estimate differences of two methods of collecting data. We used appropriate software and digital photographs for first method of measurements and for the second one we used common digital caliper. To provide an objectively defined score that summarizes the major components of variable measurements between methods we used t-test for dependent samples. There were considered statistically significant differences in measurements, e.g. in following characters: eye diameter, tail height, minimum body height. Despite this result we considered digital method as a suitable and powerful tool in fish morphology.
