Comparison of Two Methods of Morphometric Measurements on the example of Silver Prussian Carp (Carassius gibelio)
Original language description
The present study is focused on the comparison of two methods of collecting morphometric data. As object of our study we chose silver Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio) from Czech Republic. In the first method we collected the morphometric data with a common digital caliper, in the second approach we applied a computer-based image analysis using the software program L.U.C.I.A. Measurements were taken repeatedly from the same set of samples. Altogether, for the mentioned purpose we involved into our study17 morphometric characters. Differences between the two methods of measuring were estimated by use of univariate statistical analysis. We found that repeated measurements of the same set of samples by common digital caliper, although made by the same researcher, resulted in remarkable different values. Statistically significant differences were found in the following characters: eye diameter, height of caudal peduncle and minimum body height. Moreover, we found statistically significant
